Some of my favorite memories as a child was going to the theater on field trips. The bus drive there was filled with excitement and entering the huge building made me feel pretty special.
When I saw the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte was doing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz I quickly bought tickets and knew that was the next book my girls and I would read together.
The afternoon we started the book was the same day our area was put under tornado watch. What are the chances?!!
The girls were terrified and loving it. Chloe even packed her backpack with all her special things juuuuust in case. Love that girl.
We made our own tornado in a glass jar which you can barely see in the picture but it was awesome. I really think I was more into it than the kids. And I may or may not still have it sitting on our kitchen counter and shake it everyday…
More glitter is always the answer.
Character boxes. Easy peasy and they played with them for hoooouuuurrrrrrss. (highfive!!)
That smile^^^
After finishing the book we watched the Wizard of Oz. Their favorite parts were Glinda the Good Witch and when the Lion jumped out of a window. Mine was watching their reactions and them noticing the differences between the book and the movie.
My brick layer. Thanks babe, for doing it just the way I wanted! You know you love my OCDness. (Yes, that’s a word)
Yep, we’re either naked or in our jammies around here lately.
We’re off to see the Wizard! In the book you must wear green spectacles in order to enter Emerald City.
AND FINALLY THE DAY CAME! I was just about Ozed out by this point, not going to lie. BUT IT WAS AWESOME!!!
Hawaii has still got ahold of us ^^^^^^^
The play was interactive which was such fun to watch all the different children randomly picked to act out the characters. I was crossing my fingers Chloe would get picked, acting/playing pretend is such her thing.
Well, those momma wishes came true!!
The cutest Dorothy I’ve ever seen!
Now, I’m keeping my eyes out for another good play. I highly recommend finding a theater near you and taking your kiddos! Magical fun for all!
